Scalp Microneedling — doctor-administered at the hospital
Scalp microneedling uses a roller or pen device to create very fine, shallow punctures across the scalp. Two things happen as a result: topical treatments applied around the session penetrate considerably deeper than they would through intact skin, and the controlled micro-injury itself triggers a wound-healing response that includes growth-factor release around the follicles.
This is a different device and a different depth of use to the general skin microneedling used for scars or texture elsewhere, and to the MNRF (microneedling with radiofrequency) used for acne scarring — those work at the face, on different skin, for different goals. On the scalp, microneedling is most often used as a delivery step, run in the same session as PRP or GFC so the growth-factor injection follows immediately, or paired with a topical minoxidil regimen to help it reach the follicle.
It supports a treatment plan rather than replacing one. Hair loss is diagnosed first, in every case — pattern loss, telogen effluvium, deficiency, thyroid disease — and microneedling is added once that diagnosis and its correction (where needed) are underway.

No — different device depth and a different purpose. Facial microneedling and MNRF work on facial skin for texture and scarring. Scalp microneedling is done at a depth and pattern suited to the scalp, mainly to improve penetration of topical treatment and to add its own mild stimulus.

Does microneedling work on its own for hair loss?
It's most often used combined with PRP, GFC or a topical regimen, rather than alone. Used by itself it has a modest supportive effect; combined with an injectable growth-factor treatment, the microneedling primarily improves that treatment's penetration.
Does it hurt?
The scalp is numbed beforehand, so it's a manageable prickling sensation rather than sharp pain. Expect some tenderness and pinpoint redness for a day afterwards.
Can this replace my medical hair loss treatment?
No. If your hair loss has an identifiable cause — deficiency, thyroid disease, untreated pattern loss — that's treated directly. Microneedling supports a plan that's already addressing the cause.
How many sessions will I need?
