Life without glasses — if your eyes are suitable for it
LASIK is an excellent operation for the right eye and a poor idea for the wrong one. The assessment that tells the two apart matters more than the laser itself.

Laser vision correction reshapes the cornea so that light focuses correctly on the retina, removing or reducing dependence on glasses and contact lenses for short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism.
The honest part of the conversation is candidacy. Corneal thickness, the stability of your prescription, the shape of your cornea on topography, dry eye, and your age all decide whether laser correction is safe for you — and if it is not, we say so. A patient talked into LASIK on a borderline cornea is a problem for the rest of their life.
For those who are suitable, the procedure itself is brief, done under anaesthetic drops, and most people see well enough to function the next morning.

Who laser vision correction suits
Candidacy is confirmed by examination, not by a phone call.
- Age 18 and above, with a prescription stable for at least the last year
- Adequate corneal thickness for the correction required
- A regular corneal shape on topography — no signs of keratoconus
- No active eye infection, and dry eye either absent or treated first
- Not pregnant or breastfeeding, as hormones shift the prescription
- Realistic expectations — reading glasses are still likely after about forty
The process
From assessment to seeing clearly
Full LASIK assessment
Visit 1 · about an hourRefraction, corneal topography, pachymetry (thickness), dilated retinal examination and a tear-film assessment. Contact lenses must be left out beforehand — soft lenses for about a week, rigid for longer.

The procedure

Is LASIK permanent?
The corneal reshaping is permanent. What can still change is your eye — after about forty, everyone develops presbyopia and needs reading glasses, and a cataract can still form later in life. LASIK removes your current glasses prescription; it does not stop the eye ageing.
What if I'm not a candidate?
Then we tell you, and we explain exactly which measurement ruled it out. Depending on the reason there may be alternatives worth discussing. We would rather lose the case than operate on a cornea that should not be operated on.
Does insurance cover LASIK?
Usually not. Laser vision correction is treated as an elective refractive procedure by most Indian health policies, so it is generally self-paid. Cataract surgery, by contrast, is covered.
How soon can I go back to work?
Most desk-based work is manageable from the second day, with lubricating drops and screen breaks. Dusty or outdoor work should wait about a week.
