A chemical peel applies a controlled acid solution to the skin to loosen the bonds between surface cells and lift them away, prompting fresher skin underneath and stimulating renewal. Different acids do different jobs: salicylic works through oil and suits acne-prone skin, glycolic addresses dullness and fine texture, mandelic is gentler and better tolerated on sensitive or pigment-prone skin, and combination formulations target stubborn pigmentation.

On Indian skin the choice of acid and strength is genuinely a medical decision. - Sessions are spaced two to four weeks apart depending on the peel and how your skin responds.
- Daily sunscreen throughout the course is not optional — peeled skin pigments readily in the sun.

What a session involves
Skin assessment and priming
Your skin type and concern determine the acid and strength. Pigment-prone skin is often primed with topicals for a couple of weeks before the first peel.
The peel
About 20–30 minutesThe solution is applied and left for a controlled time — tingling and warmth are normal — then neutralised and removed.
The following days
Days 2–5Mild redness and tightness, then light flaking around days three to five with the deeper peels. Superficial peels may not visibly flake at all, which does not mean they have not worked.
The course
Repeat every two to four weeks. Improvement accumulates across sessions.
Aftercare
After a peel
- Sunscreen every morning without exception, and reapplied
- Do not pick or pull at flaking skin — that is how marks are made
- No retinoids, acids or scrubs for about a week
- Bland moisturiser, applied often
- No waxing or threading on the treated area for a week

Will my skin visibly peel?
Superficial peels often cause little or no visible flaking; medium peels typically produce light flaking around days three to five. Visible peeling is not the measure of whether it worked.
How many sessions do I need?
Usually four to six, two to four weeks apart, then maintenance every few months if you want to hold the result.
Are peels safe for Indian skin?
Yes, with the right acid at the right strength — and genuinely risky with the wrong one. Over-aggressive peeling on pigment-prone skin causes post-inflammatory pigmentation. That is exactly why these are selected by a dermatologist and started conservatively.
Can I have a peel before a wedding or event?
Yes, but not the week before. Allow at least two to three weeks so any flaking and redness has fully settled, and never have your first-ever peel close to an event.
