Your own platelets, put to work

PRP concentrates the growth factors in your own blood and returns them where they are needed — the scalp for thinning hair, the face for texture and early lines.

PRP Therapy — Hair & Skin — doctor-administered at the hospital

Platelet-rich plasma is made by drawing a small amount of your blood, spinning it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, and injecting that concentrate where it is needed. Platelets carry growth factors that signal repair, which is the basis of the treatment.

For hair, PRP is used in pattern hair loss to support existing follicles and improve the calibre of thinning hair. It works best as part of a plan alongside medical treatment and correction of any deficiency — not as a replacement for either. This page sits on the aesthetic side of the practice, but hair loss is diagnosed on the medical side first.

For skin, PRP is used for overall texture, early fine lines and under-eye quality, and is frequently combined with microneedling so the plasma reaches the right depth. Because it is your own blood, there is no risk of allergy or rejection.

Packages & pricing

Session packages

PRP is a course, not a one-off. A single session does not change hair density, and pricing it as a standalone would misrepresent what it takes.

  • Hair sessions run monthly for the initial course, then maintenance every three to six months.
  • PRP for hair works alongside medical treatment and correction of any deficiency, not instead of them.

Dermatology at this hospital is self-pay. We do not have an insurance facility for skin — neither for aesthetic treatment, which no Indian health policy covers, nor for medical dermatology consultations and courses.

Technology

How it is prepared

  • A small blood draw — roughly 10–20ml, like a routine blood test
  • Centrifuged in a closed system to concentrate the platelets
  • Prepared and injected in the same visit; nothing is stored
  • Injected into the scalp, or into the skin with microneedling, depending on the indication
  • Performed by Dr. Neha Shukla, MD Dermatology

Suitability

What PRP is used for here

  • Pattern hair loss and diffuse thinning, alongside medical management
  • Supporting hair density after the cause of shedding has been treated
  • Skin texture, early fine lines and dullness
  • Under-eye skin quality — texture and thinness rather than hollowing
  • Combined with microneedling for acne scarring
  • Not suitable with platelet or clotting disorders, active infection, or during pregnancy

The process

A session, start to finish

  1. Blood draw

    5 minutes

A routine draw from the arm, the same as any blood test.

  2. Preparation

    About 15 minutes

The sample is centrifuged to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich fraction.

  3. Numbing

Topical anaesthetic on the scalp or face, which makes the injections comfortable.

  4. Injection

    20–30 minutes

Fine injections across the treatment area in a grid, or applied with microneedling for skin.

  5. Afterwards

Scalp tenderness and mild swelling for a day or so. No hair wash for 24 hours. Back to normal the next day.

Aftercare

After a session

  • No hair wash, oil or styling products for 24 hours
  • No gym, sauna or steam for 24 hours
  • Mild scalp tenderness for a day or two is normal
  • Avoid blood thinners and anti-inflammatories around the session where your physician permits
  • Photographs at baseline, three months and six months — slow change is invisible without them

Questions

What people ask us

In English and ગુજરાતી, because the decision gets made in whichever one you think in.

Is PRP safe?

It uses your own blood, prepared and returned in the same visit, so there is no risk of allergy or rejection. The main considerations are the injections themselves and conditions affecting platelets or clotting, which are screened for beforehand.

How many sessions for hair?

Typically an initial course of four to six monthly sessions, then maintenance every three to six months. Stopping maintenance usually means gradually losing the gain.

When will I see results?

Reduced shedding within two to three months, and visible density change at around six months. Standardised photographs are the only reliable way to judge it — day-to-day mirror comparison is not.

Will PRP alone fix my hair loss?

Rarely. PRP supports follicles but does not address the cause. If your hair loss is driven by iron deficiency, thyroid disease or a hormonal condition, that has to be treated as well — which is why hair loss is diagnosed medically here before PRP is offered.
