If glaucoma has no symptoms, how would I know?જો ગ્લુકોમાનાં કોઈ લક્ષણો ન હોય, તો મને કેવી રીતે ખબર પડે?
You would not, which is the reason for testing. In the early stages there is no pain and no noticeable blur — the loss is in peripheral vision, which the brain compensates for. It is found on examination, not by how you feel.

Do I have to use the drops forever?
In most cases, yes. Glaucoma is controlled rather than cured, in the same way blood pressure is. Stopping the drops lets the pressure rise again and the nerve damage resume — silently.
My father has glaucoma. When should I get checked?
Now, and then annually. A first-degree family history raises your risk several times over, and it is a reason to start screening earlier than forty.
Is surgery always needed?
No. Most glaucoma is controlled with daily drops. Laser or surgery is considered when drops are not holding the pressure down, or are not tolerated.
